5 Criteria That Separate a Roofing-Grade Coating from Roof Paint

Most homeowners can't tell a roofing-grade coating from a repackaged paint product until it fails. These are the specific, checkable criteria that actually determine whether a coating lasts 3 years or 15 — not marketing claims, but the technical specifications you can ask any contractor to show you in writing.

1. Dry Film Thickness (DFT)

What it is: The actual cured thickness of the coating once applied, measured in mils.
